How to Install A Wood Deck

Image
I remember the first time I installed a wood deck. This project took me about 2 days to complete. First I had to get the lumber cut down and then I had to assemble the pieces together. Once I assembled the pieces together I stained them with stain. After staining I sealed the stain with polyurethane. I wanted this deck to last for many years so I chose the best quality stain and sealer. I built stairs to go from the front porch to the back porch. These steps are made out of cedar and have a handrail. I stained these steps with stain and sealed them with polyurethane as well. My porch needed some work too. I added a railing around the entire porch and replaced the old vinyl flooring with concrete pavers. I stained the concrete paver with stain as well. Use Below Steps To Install A Wood Deck: 1. Measure the length of your deck and add 10-15cm (4-6 inches) extra space at each end. This will allow room for expansion if necessary.  2. Cut the boards into lengths that are slightly longer tha

Cleaning your deck can be a tedious task if you don't know what you are doing. You want to make sure that you clean everything thoroughly, but not overdo it. If you do too much cleaning, you may damage the wood. This is especially true if you use harsh chemicals. A wooden deck is made of many materials: 1. Wood  The wood used in the decking was chosen due to its durability and ease of maintenance. The wood used is pressure treated and has been sealed to prevent rot. Pressure treating involves exposing the wood to high amounts of moisture and heat under pressure. This allows the chemicals to penetrate deep into the wood fibers and create a protective barrier that prevents decay. Sealing the wood ensures that it does not absorb any water from rain or humidity.  2. Adhesives  The adhesive used to attach the boards together is a two-part epoxy resin system. Epoxies are strong adhesives that have many uses and can be used to bond almost anything. They are usually applied in thin layers
